Due to favorable climate, water temperature, and water quality, their population is very high in the Dalyan area. Occupying a high position in the food chain for many creatures, especially Caretta Caretta turtles, blue crabs are a sought-after delicacy in many countries around the world.

Due to its high protein content and delicious taste, the blue crab has significantly contributed to local tourism in recent years. It has become an indispensable delicacy for many vacationers and tourists. It is caught in Lake Köyceğiz, the Dalyan Canal, and the lagoons where the sea meets the Dalyan Canal. To avoid endangering the blue crab species, even if female crabs are caught in traps, they are released back into the water. In the Dalyan region, only adult crabs are hunted, with an average weight of 400-600 grams."

HOW TO COOK BLUE CRAB

Carefully cleaned crabs are placed in a deep pot with a lid. Salt is added according to the number of crabs, and the crabs are cooked over low heat with the lid closed until they turn a brick red color. While the crabs are cooking, a garlic sauce is prepared by adding real lemon juice to peeled and crushed garlic cloves. After the blue crabs have turned a brick red color, olive oil is added and cooking continues for another 5-10 minutes. Finally, the garlic-lemon sauce is added and cooked for another 5 minutes. The blue crabs are ready to serve.
