The first paragliders resembled freefall parachutes. Over time, they evolved from pressure-resistant structures to aerofoil structures with high lift. From the 1980s onwards, the paragliding wing structure reached its optimal form for easy take-off, good gliding performance, and a slow descent rate. In Turkey, paragliding became known in the early 1990s with the discovery of Babadağ by foreign pilots, and initially began actively in university clubs.

Being the most economical aircraft and its close association with outdoor sports has made paragliding a popular activity among a wide audience today. Essentially, paragliding doesn't require special skills or excessive effort; after standard training, it's quite easy and enjoyable. The Turkish Aeronautical Association (THK) and university clubs organize paragliding training courses.

Paragliding, compared to other air transport options, is the easiest to learn. Almost anyone can do it provided they meet certain health requirements. The most important organization you can contact in our country for this is the Turkish Aeronautical Association.

It should be remembered that training must be conducted by reliable instructors and with safe equipment. Paragliding is not a dangerous sport if the rules are followed and serious training is received.

Equipment Used in Paragliding
The vehicle used for this sport is called a paraglider. The fabric part of the paraglider is called a canopy, wing, or dome. With advancements in technology, the materials used in paragliding have become high-quality and reliable. New canopies are sewn from dacron polyester and are very difficult to tear. Even if they tear, special stitching prevents the tear from getting bigger.

The part where you sit is called a harness, and harnesses used for long flights also have a reserve parachute. The reserve parachute deploys if the main parachute becomes unusable due to a problem and helps you land safely.

One of the ropes used in paragliding has a tensile strength of 130 kg, and there are dozens of ropes in a paraglider. The ropes are waterproof and very lightweight. The tensile strength of the screws to which the ropes are attached is 410 kg. The tensile strength of the struts to which the ropes are attached is much greater.

Another essential piece of equipment is the helmet. There are two types of helmets: full-face and non-full-face. They offer excellent protection against impacts. Flight suits and flying boots are among the other pieces of equipment used in paragliding.

Paragliding equipment has two brakes, one on the right and one on the left, which allow for a soft landing at the desired location.

Paragliding runways in Babadağ
Take-off Runways: Babadağ has a total of three runways. The 1700-meter south runway is very suitable for takeoff. The 1800-meter north runway is a bit smaller and steeper. The 1900-meter north summit runway has a very comfortable takeoff area. Generally, flights are made from the 1700-meter runway because it receives a direct south wind for most of the day. Around 20 planes can be laid out simultaneously on this fairly wide runway.

Landing Runway:Belcekız Beach on the Ölüdeniz coast, with its length and width, is a very comfortable and safe landing area.

Meteorological Characteristics: The weather is consistent throughout the summer season. Sometimes a northerly wind blows in the mornings, and takeoffs from the northern runways are made into the valley. The southern runway experiences southerly winds of 5-20 km/h for most of the day.

Things to keep in mind: Especially during the transitional months at the beginning and end of the season, there can be rapid changes in the weather, and clouds can descend onto the takeoff area. On the south runway, a westerly wind coming from the western end of the mountain until midday can create a false southerly wind, causing confusion.

Flight Safety: In Babadağ, single and tandem paragliders must comply with the Babadağ Paragliding Regulations to ensure flight safety and standards.

Babadağ Paragliding Guidelines
Tandem Flights: Tandem paragliding pilots hold a T2 certificate/license demonstrating their qualifications. Things to keep in mind during tandem flights:

1) The health status and physical fitness of a passenger wishing to fly are important. It is especially recommended that individuals with significant health conditions such as heart disease, asthma, epilepsy, or those with physical disabilities or who are overweight should not fly.
2) Both the pilot and the passenger are required to use harnesses with a T-lock system.
3) Weather conditions must be suitable for flying.
4) Flight attire must be worn.
5) Before the flight, the pilot provides the passenger with an informative briefing on the flight plan and the area, procedures to be followed during takeoff, and conditions during flight and landing.
6) Wearing a helmet with chin guard, boots, knee pads, and gloves suitable for flight is mandatory.
Single Flights: For single flights, at least a P3 certificate/license is required, and for flights conducted under the control and responsibility of an experienced pilot/instructor pilot, at least a P2 certificate/license is required. Single pilots are required to have their certificates and licenses checked at the Turkish Aeronautical Association Flight Control Office.

[71

0":"post-588","1":"product","2":"type-product","3":"status-publish","4":"has-post-thumbnail","6":"product_cat-gunluk-dalyan-turlari","8":"first","9":"instock","10":"shipping-taxable","11":"product-type-simple
["GET
